Another newbie I'm afraid
« on: December 04, 2012, 09:33 PM »
Hi guys,
Another idiot re living his childhood.
Proper loved them then and the love just continues.
I used to ride a red mongoose wire wheel in the eighties.
It was a way of life back then, made some great mates.
Truly happy days.

I've bought a mongoose expert 1985 from the states.
Complete barring brakes and a few bits.
All professionally stripped and powder coated etc.
I'm thinking of having this built as a bit of show bike and getting something nice but with a bit of patina so WHEN and not if I fall off it, it won't cause too much heart ache.

Any suggestions for nice 80's retro light bmx as a daily rider (well ok, a weekend rider)
Still needs to be special.
Mongoose super goose maybe?

So guys,
In layman terms, and remember I've been away for 25 years doing the whole boring growing up bit in life, what's regarded as the top five bikes around from my era?
My lot had burners, diamond backs and some models I can't remember.

I don't mind spending the dollars, I've had enough time to save up!!

Quadangles = Nice but different
Take a look in the museum section under SE Racing.  :daumenhoch:

Thanks.
Not sure if the quadangle is me to be honest.

I've been bitten by the mongoose bug me thinks.

So is it the usual formula in terms of desirability?
The earlier bikes e.g a late 70's mongoose v 80's mongoose more a collectors piece?
I'm figuring if its going in my man cave (the garage) along with my other hobby, classic cars, it would be nice if it was 'gem' in terms of
rarity.
Club member selling a 79 mongoose team race frame in blue which looks nice 'early' and used.

Thanks.

i've pm'd kungfunky on some pointers for the early stuff.

A quick search and the unmolested 70's motomags are rather peachy.
