Spent the day spray bombing (pics now added)
« on: November 28, 2012, 08:35 PM »
Ok, ok i know its a bit frowned upon when its almost as cheap to get stuff powdered of sprayed professionally but i thought i would give you a little report on my experiences.  :P

So the budget build curtailed any idea of powder or going to a spray shop. I decided the easiest way to find the colour i wanted to to find a car in the right colour and work out the paint code  ;)

I have used halfrauds rattle cans before and found them to be a bit bobbins so paint code in hand i looked on the net and found this place doing a nice little repair kit with free postage just big enough to do a frame and forks.

http://www.paints4u.com/ProductDetails.aspx?productID=5423

The pack turned up two days after ordering and with slight scepticism i set about my frame and forks. The primer went on as expected and after a bit of fettling i broke out the colour.
What a difference from the thin halfrauds stuff! the colour went on lovely and such was my confidence in its quality i decided i could just about eek out enough from the 400ml tin to do some special bars i had been working on.  ;)

With a few words of wisdom from the Kapster i got the decals on and two coats of lacquer later she was finished.  :4_17_5:

What it will be like for chipping i have no idea but to do a frame, forks and bars for 24 notes all in with a bottle of finishing polish to get through i thought was bob on value  :daumenhoch:

It was getting too dark for a decent pic but i will bung some up in the morning for those who may be interested  :daumenhoch:

I have to confess, the bars are home made from a set of V bars  :)

These pics dont really do the paint job justice. The lighting is quite soft in the shop and doesnt show of the metalic colour very well  ;)

Top job, nice colour.  :daumenhoch:

By the way, do you live in lapland, are you Father Xmas?

:LolLolLolLol: Not lapland, just the northern quarter. The tree and christmasy toboggan help pull the punters in the shop ;)
