Looks as though Kuwahara are jumping on the oldschool bike re-release bandwagon with an 30th anniversary ET model...

3rd one they've done.

Made one when Universal Studios opened in Japan back around 2001 using NOS frameset from 80's

Another new school version made around 2007 Laserlite, which never made UK due to lead in the paint they used. As marketed as a kids toy by the Japanese

Now this one based on the KZ1 remakes they made a couple of years back with the rear end loop tailed. Parts look pretty lame though.

Should have just done as a frameset even though not 100% accurate to original

I also think it looks Okay but wasn't the film released in 1982?  30th anniversary edition available to buy in 2013.      

I bet the complete bike is a lot less than the Haro Freestyler repop.

There are three KZ01 reissue completes this year that have an RRP of £769.99 so I reckon it will be in excess of this. So reckon JT might be close to the mark

edit - Just been speaking to the UK distributor as I have a new race bike coming. I asked the question and he said they will not be getting any. In order to get stock from Kuwie they have to order a complete container of 220 kuwahara bikes and as they already have a container in transit they will not be ordering another one. The RRP was gonna be around £900.

Looks are deceiving though    The frame and fork look good and, agreed, should have just sold a Frame, Fork and Bar package. The rest of the bike is tat    Cheap tat at that and not worth the RRP of £900

 it'll be only clued up collectors who would be interested and they won't want to pay such a high price for repop parts....totally agree should be f and f only 
£350 would be a more resonable price considering the parts !

Is there any point in buying a repop frameset and building it with era-correct components though?  Unless you want to build it with new school parts which wouldn't look right either.   

It is what it is and, if Oldschoolace spills the beans on who's knocking them out for £405, I'd be tempted to buy one as it's half the price of a drilled-out Hot Heart.

.... but the Haro frame is a beautiful, hand made in the USA to exact geometry( am I ever going to get my hands on one of the 14 mark 1 spec frames left that this is modelled on ? ...I don't think so), lovely chrome and limited numbers.... it will not be produced again(according to Dom)
 I'm not loving the fact it's £900.00 either but I'm prepared to take a hit...since the dawn of time us Brits have always had to pay more for US BMX imports....

the £900 price tag is definitely a bit on the steep side!!  £400 though seems to be about the price of most bikes these days so although still quite high, its a bit more realistic.

from an engineering perspective, it's just a frame and forks, nothing complicated or special trust me. i'm not getting into the worth, just saying it's not difficult to make and as for  hand welded/made, erm, i've no real answer to that, they all are, i doubt any frame set is done on a robot, the one we have would be a nightmare to set up for that job. making a jig is no big task, we make them every day for even shitty one off jobs.

a 5m length of 22.2mm top quality 4130 cro-mo tube is about £20(well it was 3 weeks ago, and they fluctuate by a quid or so weekly) we charge £175 per hour for use of the tube laser, but it does a hell of a lot in an hour. i priced up the tubing and laser time to do 20 nat pro new school cruiser frame and forks plus the mandrel bending. worked out at about £50 to me but i work there. no idea for a business buying said stuff
still might do it fro the crack.
