You could always do a 4x with 194.

Marks right     I was mean't to give you that option aswell  .... or you could go 2 cross at 176mm (good luck finding those  )

Looks pretty much like 3 cross, my last two bikes have come like that which I copied during rebuilding. 

Not sure about cutting down, you'd probably not be left with much thread to work with.
