Small update on the wheels , thanks to the sticky on here from stidds
It sort of got me on track to respoking the 48s.
Before.

Rusty spokes and some missing. Strip down and clean up.

Awhile later.

Still need a longer front axle so that's my next job.

It's the first pair I've done so did take abit of time. Didn't quite work out like the walk through on here for some reason not sure it there is a different way for 48s. But it's done and another job off the list. Will just get them tweaked by the local shop as I don't have a jig.

A bit pissed off at the min :-\
Sent the wheels round to a local shop and asked for them to be tweaked up. Said any problems give me a shout etc. anyway 2 days have passed and no phone call. ( he said it will be done same day as I dropped them down). Anyway ring up ask how it's going  only to be told he's completely stripped them down ?  I said I only wanted a tweak up and to call if any problems. ( I won't be doing 30 foot jumps on the bike ffs.) he's now rebuilding them saying "oh it's abit tricky trying to finish a job someone else has done. So a £5 job of tweaking is now gonna cost a lot more but he never rang to say.

The guy in the shop should have noticed they were built slightly wrong straight away and explained that when you gave them to him. From what I can see, they would tweek fine, its just the valve hole that's in the wrong place, making pumping up ya tyre a bitch.
Demand it for free and twat him
Whats the matter Kid, don't ya like clowns? Don't we make you laugh? Aint we fukkin funny?

He was concerned about thread length on some of the spokes. That's all I could get out of him but a simple call to explain wouldn't of gone a miss.

The chain was shot very loose and was due a change. They still sell the kmc chains lucky.

Same workshop as above but in 1996

All built up , a few odds and ends still to find like the xposure gyro cover impossible to find anywhere. Have emailed a few users on here who I've seen have one fitted to their bikes in a bid they may sell.  :LolLolLolLol:
The front axle in 175mm is impossible to find so I cant fit the pegs. May have to get an engineering place to knock one up. Bitd was easy to pick one up. All I can find is standard size but need the extra bit for fitting the pegs.
Pegs on the back need some paint stripper as the chrome is mint underneath and someone's just rattle canned them black.
Nice rider though , pleased with how the frame came out but surprised how some mid school bits are hard to find.  Also beware using the acid with decals still on I've noticed some have cracked and I can't put it down to anything else other than the acid bath.

Bike looks mint mate I would love to build one of my old ones but which bike from what time would be difficult :). I used to use mountain bike spindles on the front can you not get one of those and a deep socket. I know it sounds a bit bodge but hey thats what we all did back then.

Cheers for the comment fella. I did get a longer spindle from a bike shop recently but he gave me the wrong size and doesn't have any in the right size. So might get one made up soon.

Small update - No luck buying a longer front spindle so I could fit the pegs so I called on my engineer uncle.
He made one from scratch at 175mm long that's done the job.

Nope not mine unless someone nicked the pics. ?
I've been building and sourcing parts for along time for this one to build it to my spec from 97.

I've had a quick look on eBay and yeah a sort of standard one sold awhile back.
For £50 odd.
