Help needed on a seat resto please:)
« on: October 09, 2012, 11:42 AM »
Right I've got a seat I want to dye black but there's some holes I want to fill, is there a filler/epoxy etc that I can use that will dye black with the seat?

Ah , i would say hang on for a fusion seat as anything you try to fill that with will show, why not put a trade up as that yellow kashi is pretty desirable

What about....

black rivets for a Bob look
Black silicone
Corian filler (then dye)
p38 (then dye)
black blind gromets

Sixteen thirty-two. What is that? A year?   No, it's your top score on Pole Position.

That's what I'm saying will the filler/epoxy filler etc dye with the seat or stay its own colour? Can anyone recommend the stuff to use?

I think if you dye it whatever you filled the holes with wouldn't go the same colour, I would just dye it & put a decal on  :daumenhoch:

Sorry i thought it was a kashi MX , but on closer inspection it isnt

i would think any type of filler will not dye , or if it colours then it would never be the same colour as the dyed seat

the only way you can do it is to buy another seat the same colour.  and cut it up then melt the cut up bits into the holes with a soldering iron.  this is a trick used to repair plastic car bumpers.  then rub it down/add more until it is smooth. then you should be able to dye it the same colour.  you can also get attachments for a heat gun that can make the stippled texture effect on the seat but god knows where you get them from. another method is to heat up the seat and press a course grade of sandpaper in the textured area. and smooth off the non textured area. but practice on the second seat first so you know how hot to get it.  :daumenhoch:
