Im by no means an authority on this but try a good soapy wash then spray liberally with TF2/GT85 etc...

I've got a set of NOS red ones and they do look a little "pinky" and "Chalky"

Best way is to put them in the dishwasher on the longest setting  :daumenhoch:
I might actually build a bike this year instead of just hoarding parts :)

Danny, you could always dye them with red rit dye if you want a redder finish. :coolsmiley:

It's easy, but not as easy as just putting them in a tub with the dye, there is a thread on here somewhere, someone will put a link up. ;)

You need 2 packets of rit dye, some salt, 2 of the large containers of table salt did it for me, a wallpaper steamer that you can remove the square bit off the end, and a large bucket, I got one from B&Q for £8.

Put your rims in the tub with the salt and due, then fill with enough boiling water from the kettle, enough to completely cover the rims, then get the steamer boiling and put the end in the water, the steamer keeps the water at working temp for the dye to work,

You got to keep stirring the water every 20 mons or so. It took me 3 hours to do, but I went from yellow to black, it won't take you so long I wouldn't imagine as they're red already.

Once done then put WD40 or similar on them. :daumenhoch:

The Z Rims when they were new we're always a little bit "faded"

I'd give a good clean first and a wipe with WD40

If they are still not what you want wash em again (to get rid of the WD40)

and dye em  :daumenhoch:

Just type rit dye in the search, if I remember rightly, it's about 8 quid for 2 packs inc postage.

You also need a cat and a dog to chase it round the house until it jumps into the vat of hot water with hilarious results :daumenhoch:

Who cares? At least you'll have the desired colour you want on your zeds. I used my mums steamer so wasn't bothered what happened to it.  :LolLolLolLol:

Danny you could just bin them and get some proper wheels. A man of your size shouldn't be let loose on clown wheels! :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol:

Seriously though, don't sell them to Lenny, he can't be trusted. Have you seen the types he hangs around with? :idiot2:

(Retro)Dan has history in this department, and a lot of other departments to be fair :LolLolLolLol:

Oh, and don't go to Neil's house, NOBODY has ever been seen leaving 'Hansel & Grettel' cottage! If you do, don't drink the tea, it tastes funny  :2funny:

Danny, I had Z's on my Haro Gp1 when I first built it and handled like poop, hence the Ukais. I'm a big lad and they just flexed even when I pedald hard.
If they're for a show bike then who am I to argue, I have a pair of 24" Skyways on one of mine FFS! :LolLolLolLol:
