the worst BB ever invented is 22mm euro, You are lucky to get 8 months. Go find a bearing factors and price up replacement bearings (knock out the old, use a socket to knock in the new)

or get an external BB like this

http://www.deitycomponents.com/embassy_ext_bb7.htm

and swap the spanish 19mm bearing for a 22mm one

http://www.winstanleysbmx.com/product/19762/Primo_Spanish_Bottom_Bracket

sorted

euro bb's are well known to fail in a short amount time just like yours has

as said try a external bb, they use bigger bearings so should last longer

or you can get a euro bushing bb so you have no bearing just a nylon bush

have no idea how long they last etc....

I tried the Affix set and it wasn't much cop (too much resistance when tight, when looser the cups unscrewed) - I forwarded it on to another Radster for use. I've just ordered my first external one as my current euro one is creaking and popping after about 3 months; and that's just on my commuter bike that barely leaves the ground.

A bushing only bb? Crikey... Raleigh used to do that, sorry for the ref, on the cheep kids bikes using a bronze set up. I worked with raleigh's from 90 to 99. Saw the evolution of the bb's from American to the small Euro which was used in the Road bike. Saw various failures, seizures of the cups in the frame etc. The only small units which stood up to serious abuse where the Shimano LX units upwards. I have an XT now from years ago and its been abused but even this one now has play in it. I suppose really its always the bearings which take the first smack in anything be it riding or jumping etc. If it wasnt the bb then the hubs.. If I replaced one, all I ever did was grease the threads and screw in the new one, grease the splines and pedal threads. Makes it easier when it comes to dismantle and fit a new one. Nothing lasts anymore, and the Ugly American BB spoiled us for longevity.

Last night I fitted an external Deity BB to my daily commuter bike (OM Flyer), where the old euro BB was creaking so loud it was scaring kids walking to school...
Anyway, it took about 5 minutes to fit and seemed a really good bit of kit - the threads screwed a long way into the BB shell and it seems solid and not nearly as flexy. You'll find out soon enough if it's not up to the task as I usually have catastrophic failures when that happens :2funny:

Worth noting that I did have to move my chainring from the outside to the inside of the spider, and as it's so wide I've not used ANY of the external spacers, just one very thin washer to cover outside of the non-drive side cartridge bearing

Funny you should mention that Jon as I fitted that Mankind BB yesterday. Initial impressions- very good, feels solid. Looks pretty good too!
Ill be interested to know how you get on with the Deity...
