mid skool tyre choice
« on: September 17, 2012, 02:54 PM »
hi all , my dk general lee has a pair or primo dirt monsters on. I am looking at getting some street/park tyres so it will ride better on the streets and eventually I can have a go on ramps. I have looked at lots of tyres and fancy some gusset pimps as they are really cheap in a sale. I have always rode tracks so I am unsure which size to go for, What would best suit the bike 1.95 or 2.1?

I tried to go big on my dirtbike and the 2.35 front when inflated didn't fit in the forks :(

The natural progression from dirt monsters would be V-monsters IMHO. Ideal for ramps and totally useable for street - I use a 2.1 on the front and 1.95 on the rear. They even come in skinwall too for that extra bit of style..... ;-)

I'd agree with Spen but go 1.95 front and back - lovelee tyres

dont bother with the new version of tanwall v monsters if you wanna run over 65psi

as they bulge and make your wheel look buckled

the normal blackwall ones are fine just the new tanwall ones are crap, i tried 2 pairs and both were the same, sent em back and got fit fafs instead

Ask what folks think of the cheap ones first bud as they might be ok.

Pretty sure uncle Stodgy Dave can get the skinwall V-monsters for you if you need some. :daumenhoch:

My 2p

I rode 21.Dirt monster front, 1.95 v monster rear, for ages, was good for everything

then I discovered Fly Rubens front and rears, really really good tyres

just bought 1.95 streetblocks for my RV, they are just like powerblocks but with a stronger sidewall and more grip, so no bulging or splits, and still very light, as I am riding to and from the cyclopark bmx track when I go

difference is that the next day i go on a 50 mile ride to burn it off where as you just carry on eating  :2funny: :2funny:

anyway as much as it is fun taking the piss out of you (and you taking it out of me) its more fun face to face (ohherr!) and its kinda ruining this post so shove another pork pie in ur face and shut it :LolLolLolLol:

there are other mid school tyre options if ur not too fussed about tan walls

pretty sure the following have been around since the late 90's/early y2k
