Do I powder this survivor GT performer? Now finished page 2:)

Hi Fellas,
I have had this frame and forks sitting around now for a few months while a gather up some of the parts I wasnt sure on weather to powder it so I asked for some advice on here first. Most people said its up to me, so got it done the other day

Sorry but I have to agree with the dude who strips NOS frame sets I'm afraid.    

After all it's a mass produced Tai frame set.  There's survivor paint and there's dog-rough and that is heading towards the latter IMO.  If it was someones holy grail then maybe it would be an issue but I would be getting busy with the Nitro-mors if it was mine.

I'm not into all this survivor crap I like stuff to look mint and that's far from mint, it's your bike tho fella do what you want!

Cheers for the advice and comments. The only reason I hesitate is the fact that the decals are in such good order and it seems a shame to get them blasted and then re done I think I will go for the re powder as I had it in mind for this all along and all the parts I have collected for it will be as mint as possible.
Ill post it in the resto thread when I have it done

BEFORE  you do repowder....... why dont your psot up and see if someone wants to do a swop. you may well get a ready powdered frame set your happy with , and give someone who really wants a survivor performer a chance to get one

The paint is a pretty gay colour and most poofters like their stuff to be pristine so I think you may struggle with the trade option.   

There is another option which I have done on an old race bike that I couldn't get decals for.  I carefully masked the decals up and rubbed the worst bits of the frame down, got some colour matched paint and applied a few light coats until it looked tidy.  Then I carefully removed the masking and lacquered the lot.  It looked proper sweet I tell thee.

Good idea, although what paint did you use? I rattle canned a frame before, looked sweet but was very delicate and chipped dead easy. I think it was duplicolor or something

Yeah, I don't have a compressor so I got the guy at a paint supplies place to knock me up a couple of cans of U-Pol custom paint and it worked out OK for me. 

Obviously, it would never be as tough as powder but it's kind of a happy medium and you get to keep the OG decals.

You could always do it properly if you know someone with the gear.

Re Powder 

Like any old girl, they all need a little work so they look their best

Well fellas Picked it up from the powder coaters and managed to straighten out the seatpost a little Powder is pretty thick, you can just about see the GT logo on the back of the frame 

Had to strip the powder of the lower part of the seat post in order for it to fit into the frame began to build it up today:

Found some original pro performer decals on the us ebay, worked out at £15 for the set including shipping

Just need some cables, pedals and brake blocks and a headtube decal, I have everything else for it sat in my spare room
