New bike needed, do I got a complete or custom build?
« on: September 02, 2012, 08:02 PM »
Okay, so got a budget of £500. Do I go for a 2012 model, have seen a WTP Zodiac and Volta in my price range or is it worth building up from individual parts?

I'm 6'2" and about 15 stone ::) mainly need the bike to ride short distance to work, with a little bit of street, dirt and skatepark thrown in. (am in my late thirties so in reality prob just to ride to work!)

So, would prefer new than second hand, recommend away!

Talk to Stodgy at the RADSHOP. I'd say that completes that are around now are good value for money

There are a few good deals as you say on last years stuff. I went for the custom just so I could get all white bits!  ::)
If going custom, get a frame that fits and work from there, you can always change bits as and when you need to.  :daumenhoch:

Used bikes tend to be completely thrashed , you will get a fantastic complete for the money you want to spend, start looking at the brands you like and decide which one you want to support as the bikes will all be of a muchness.

Fook soulless winstanlys, go to a proper shop near to where you live Jamie........if you're anywhere near the Radshop then dave will give you great advice.

£500 is a good budget and you should get a bloody good ride for that.  Try and ride a couple as what might look nice might have poor geometry for you? High BB will push you more forward over the bars.......look at what TT lengths fit best and so on  :daumenhoch:
