Anodising Old Skool Suntour Hubs
« on: August 29, 2012, 10:34 PM »
Bit of help needed.......
I have a pair of Suntour large flange hubs from a Kuwahara ET survivor. I removed the freewheel & spindles which I thought would be enough to get them re-anodised. However after speaking to the anodisers today, they have advised that I need to remove all materials that are magnetic which includes the ball race housing/surrounds. Has anyone been able to remove these and if so, advise how this was completed?

Mark now you have them out, is there a steel sleeve running through the centre ?
I know there is on the sealed bearing hubs once you have taken the bearings out.
cca used to bung the hub ends to annodise them without the steel inside compramising anything, most annodisers won't entertain this though but if there is none then once the cups are out the loose ball one's would be perfect for anno.

Hi glynnyboy
From looking at the hub it's gold all the way through as the same with the small flange sealed ones I have too
No sleeve in these
