MX 1000 verse's MX900 price guide?
« on: August 31, 2012, 10:29 AM »
Just interested to know?...Is there a lot of price difference between these two? Is one size rarer than the other?

say I had some nice black MX1000's what price would they be in relation to MX900's?

I thought the only physical difference between the 900 and 1000 was 10mm arm reach  ???

Price wise 900's a bit cheaper as they don't fit a lot of bikes on the rear and can only be used on the front

I might actually build a bike this year instead of just hoarding parts :)

To be honest Carl, I've sold dozens of setsand not noticed a price difference. Price mainly depends on condition.

Thou's do sell quicker than 900's but not for less. Sold as a set with Tech3's I've not had any difference, maybe as individual calipers possibly?

Any post arrived this morning yet btw?
Still limping......

I recently picked up a set of very good/clean rider Black '83 MX1000's with Black '83 Tech 3 levers and Black DC '83 dated cables for 100gbp posted.

MX900's are great if you ride slammed and don't have the flex that 1000's give. It all depends when building the bike, what size you will need. Chainring size and freewheel size all play a part on where your wheel will sit in the drops thus, deciding for you what caliper you will need.

As said already, 1000's give you more flexibility overall when building a bike, making them more desirable  :daumenhoch:

That said, mint black setups are hard to get hold of so if someone needs black, best bet is you will sell the 900's no problem  :coolsmiley:

Over the last few years i have seen both go for just as much depending on climate. You get a bunch of guys building kuwy's and the 1000's go up. On the same note you get a bunch of guys on the raleigh forums putting together a team aero pro or a chrome aero pro and the price of mint 900's shoots up.
There was a guy on bw last year with a mint 1000 wanting the same in 900.......I think he's still waiting.
