Removing some surface coats of paint

I have a frame here which seems to have the original paintwork underneath. So my plan is to remove the hand sprayed(no lacquer) coats of paint causing as little damage to the original finish as possible.

Anyone have a bright ideas of a quickish way of doing this ?

my finger nail is succeeding but don't wanna keep using it for obvious reasons... and a stanley knife blade is causing to much damage.... so

What do you reckon to some white spirit to soften if up a little ? and a plastic scraper of some sorts ??

Help needed please ?

i did it with nail varnish rmover. took a while tho.

I'd say some kind of thinners or solvent to gently remove the top layer of paint. Then T-cut any little bits that are left back to the original paint

we used to used the oven cleaner pads to take sign writing off the side of vans when we had our pitch a few years ago.
you know the ones that have the cleaner inside the pad.
not brillo's they were plastic with a foam base.
might be worth a try.i know it used to take the writing off anyway.

Just waiting on a pic for another that I know of... the ebay link is now dead. stickered up as chrome burner if I remember right. Trying to work out the logic behind these...  but I'm not sure there is any.

I'm in the middle of removing the paint to see the serial no. will give you a date then.

Just uncovered the serial on the frame. NH4088853.

I think raleigh were just too lazy to weld the gusset in...

From what I can gather... these were the likes of the stylers/mag 20s of the mk I burner range, using up what they had around them in the factory... note the straight bars and the squared reflector more commonly found on the mk II. Stickering them up differently to create further interest.

These are perhaps linked more so with lower spec components, and commonly found in the catalogues BITD.

Not sure if that's a ll true but till I know more....

Just speant 2 full days on it... & it's pretty much there. About 20 hours all in... I must be mad !!! :?

Probably build this up as an ultra burner... The finish is pretty good... a few dings here and there but it's original !!!
