So far so goose
« on: July 05, 2006, 08:44 PM »
Thought I'd stick a couple of pictures up of my latest build, should be done for when my broken elbow mends, hopefully in time for a rip around the MK track. Can't wait to get out there on a track, it's been 15 or so years!

Comments welcome :)

3 piece crank should be arriving tomorrow, I'll then mirror polish it. Also waiting on renthal layback seat post, brakes, and seat clamp. I have all the rest of the stuff I need. I've also got soem tioga comp 3's to go on there as well as a NOS Mongoose padset.

That's as far as I got tonight with a broken elbow before I got called in for me tea.

Once it's built I'll ride it until winter, then strip it for a re-chrome and some new decals.

The VR was a beast! It started out life as an 8 valve GTi I then swapped the running gear over for VR6 stuff out of a 55k mile VR6 highline. I sourced the Vortech supercharger from the states along with the fitting kit, fitted a dastek piggy-back for the ECU and had it re-mapped  to suit. It was putting out around 270 bhp which is more than enough in a FWD car!

Yup!

1st gear was a write off, 2nd just span up too if you were too heavy footed and 3rd was just brutal!

My mate has a VR with a similar spec and he's just fitted a Quaife 6 speed box and limited slip diff, makes a massive difference on getting the power down.

If you ever get a VR, budget another £2k for a 'charger it's the best 2-large you'll ever spend!  :D
