Somewhere 'Local' to ride?
« on: August 14, 2012, 10:28 PM »
I've always thought how cool it must be for anyone who lives within a few miles of anything that resembles a track or a set of trails.

I've lived in Royston (Nr Barnsley) for nearly 7 years now and apart from the historic remnants of the Horbury BMX Track in Wakefield I was unaware of anywhere else to roll round and jump a few 'humps'.

I was randomly sat playing on my iPad on Sunday afternoon browsing the local area from a birdseye perspective and enjoying spotting local landmarks...

When this 'shape' grabbed my attention.

10 mins from my front door...

So I had a little ride a lunch today to investigate this apparent 'track' looking shape...

Now its hardly a proper race track and I doubt it would bother Maris Stromberg's but for me and my limited skill and enthusiasm its just the ticket.

There is a local council sign that read The Betty Eastwood BMX track... I have no idea who Betty is or was... but thanks love!!!

Happy Days... I can see me spending some time here during certain weeks of the month  :daumenhoch:
