last minute diy bike stand for MK
« on: August 15, 2012, 10:31 PM »
After hearing that the hooped part on the Maplins bike stands were a bit too high ,
i had a quick look round youtube for ideas and came up with this  :)
they work really well and cost about 20 quid for 3

what you need is
1x 3m length of 21.5mm solvent weld overflow pipe
8x 90 degree bends
4x T peices

cut yourself these sizes
4 x 165mm lengths for the uprights
4 x 215mm lengths for the width parts
4 x 185mm lengths for the leg parts
2 x 45mm bits to join the T's
and join em up as above glueing with solvent weld adhesive , but do it quick  :daumenhoch:

heres the Rickman on one

It comes out of the ground!

Where did you get the bits from for that please?
I went to B&Q at the weekend to make one of them & it would have cost a fortune. Well a fortune to me, I'm as tight as a gnats chuff!

I got the bits from screwfix , elbows and T's were about £2.70 for packs of 5 and the length of pipe was about £1.50 I think ,not sure about the glue cos I robbed a bit of that off a plumber mate :)
They do actually work ok without being glued as when I took that pic with the bike in it I hadn't glued it yet

I dont think many plumbers and builders shop at B and Q.

T'is like Harrods for the building trade!!  :LolLolLolLol:

I see what you mean about Harrods. It was £2.69 for 3 elbows, £2.99 for the pipe & 1.79 each for the T pieces. Robbing fookers!
