Bleaching Tuffs

I know there have been a lot of threads on here about how to bleach tuffs, the only thing I was worried about was ruining the alloy hubs so I decided to only submerge it up to the hub itself, and turn it at regular intervals. Initially I stripped the axle and covered the bearings and ran it through a hot cycle in the dishwasher. I then scrubbed the wheel and submerged it up to the hub so the boiling bleach / water was just below the alloy hub, I then set a timer and turned it every hour. It was eventually left in for nearly 3 days but I left them out each night so I could judge how long to leave them in to ensure it was roughly left the same amount time each turn. I re-heated the water each day as I think it works better with hot water.

The downside of doing it this way is

More hassle, can't just leave and forget
Possibly uneven whitening - but I think they have turned out ok

Unfortunately I didn't take a before photo but it was bought off Matt (Swivel) and they were your usual used condition, i.e yellowed, rider condition, 30 years of grime but still reasonably tidy.

They're not snow white but they're much improved and tie in nicely with a white rear coaster I've got.

They now look like .....
