I thought the yank bikes were just made out of show chrome  ;)
Sixteen thirty-two. What is that? A year?   No, it's your top score on Pole Position.

They did ship initially.
The 1979 rampar R11 & R11 XL were manufactured by Raleigh in the far east using British tubing for the American & Australian market.
Only initially though, later runs of bikes 3 year run were just chromoly instead of 531

Wasnt it 4130 chromolybdenum or crmo?
Reynolds cheaper 501 might have been thrown into the equation, but, as I remember when I worked for Raleigh, 501 was similar to cromo.

The 531 was made from manganese alloy.

Yeah your right, 531 is manganese-molybdenum and 4130 is chromium-molybdenum, the main difference is the chromium in 4130, however, they both contain manganese.
