Wheels N' Things BD-III
« on: August 05, 2012, 10:14 AM »
I was going to take this to MK for it's first outing but thought I'd post it on here 1st  :4_17_5:.   It's a very very rare 1978 BD-III frame with SE Innovations Cycle pro forks, There are only 2 of these known in the UK and a handfull world wide 8)

The BD-III means "Breithaupt Developments phase 3" The 3rd mini frame that Scot designed, in 79 it was named the DB IV for the pro rider Derek Brown. It was aimed at riders under 90lbs and from 80 onwards it became the Mini Ripper.

I paln to build this as a part tribute to the late Sandy Finkleman and how Mike King rode it in 78.

Now I see the significance of the stuff I did for you. I feel quite homoured now to be probably the only person ever to reproduce it
Lovely frameset Ash, love nice bit of beige, think i was only person to like the repop beige quads in their standard colour, wish i'd bought one when they were £110 quid now, but hey ho

Thanks for the comments  :4_17_5:

Getting the correct vintage SE Tan colour was very tricky and took a lot of work to get it there. Yet again I need to thank Dan for his work and as you all know his work is the best there is  :4_17_5: Also Jaymz who has helped out on the design front of a little project I have, if you need something designing he's your man  :4_17_5: :daumenhoch:

I'm a fan of BMX and BMX history so being able to get my hands on some of the most iconic and influential bikes is humbling, as a result I've become pretty good friends with a few of the old boys who were there from the start and to pass the history on is a pleasure  :daumenhoch:

I'll be doing a bit of a small feature soon with my latest build and the Portland Bike Gallery & Ben Joy and a stack of amazing pictures and history, with one of the coolest bikes I've ever built  8)
