Here's mine before I tear it down ready for a rub down and another respray
Then new crank, headset, handle bars, seat, stem, stem clamp, wheels and tyres and it should be done lol
From this

To this

Only a small change lol

Thats a Marlboro race> I had a chrome one for xmas and ripped the rear brake plate off! Came with Weinman brakes and rims, budget hubs and bog standard stuff. Strong tho!

I'm not trying to piddle on your chips but isn't the date up to 1995?
It does say the end of 95 so yours might have been made in 95??

this is how i got it £40 of my mate it was in pretty good nick i felt a bit guilty stripping it

these are the bits i got along with the stripped frame & forks, unknown bars, plastic sr pedals, raleigh mags, diacompe 890 callipers, diacompe levers, original seat post, san marco seat, crank, chain ring, grips and pad set all being restored to my best abilities.

these are some spares left over - raleigh burner crank/chain wheel and seat post and original universal wheel and cheap front wheel, if any ones got a set of yellow tyres new/used for the budget build they would like to swap for these parts let me know or 1 yellow tyre the same as in the picture. :daumenhoch:

every single one I've found is a 96. And I flogged the last of OS parts at mk so an OS build would cost a fortune to start off. Looks like I'm out of this one. Unless I can turn up any new info

Sorry Horne2701 i missed your post. Looks like a cracking starting point for a budget build that and should leave you enough funds to add the parts you fancy too  :daumenhoch:

Totally agree, the whole point of this build off is to have a bit of fun, maybe try a few ideas you wouldn't try on an expensive build and generally indulge our hobby. Lets face it, most of us started out with cheapo rides  :daumenhoch:

The only reason i set the date at 95 is because bikes later than that can be picked up pretty cheap and dont really represent a challenge. If anyone has an issue with Jaymz entering then chime in or pm me, otherwise we will assume the serial number on Jaymz ride is inconclusive and could be a late 95  :daumenhoch:

Good man  :daumenhoch:

We needn't of worried though as Jay has PM'd me the serial number and i (being a mid school expert  :D :-X) can confirm that it was built on the 31st December 1995 at 23.59  ;)

Looks like your in Jay  :D
