Diamond Back skip fodder salvage.
« on: August 05, 2012, 09:43 PM »
Just finished this build for my 11 year old daughter, she's been hounding me for weeks about building a BMX she can roll with her friends, so I set about finding a suitable starting point.
This Diamond Back Demon and an odd ball generic BMX turned up at a local recycling depot and was duly loaded into the boot in exchange for £15. We then set about stripping both bikes to see what could be restored and used and what was scrap, as this was going to be a rider I wasn't too fussed about the sh!te components so long as it was safe and the brakes worked, it would do as she'd probably lose interest once school starts up again. ::)

Following a respray in Electric Orange and a raid of my spare bits boxes, we came up with this..

Diamond Back Demon F&F
DB bars, seat, seatpost & clamp
Tektro brake levers and rear brake
MX1000 copy front brake
Odyssey G2 Gyro and black cables
Skyway sealed bearing Tuff 2's and Skyway brake pads
Haro MS4 tyres
Haro DX type pedals
Profile 44T Widowmaker SS chainwheel
Generic 175 cro-mo 3 pc crank and sealed BB
Dicta 16T freewheel
Cut down Shadow Conspiracy grips
KMC chain

Smile says it all .

Well chuffed is an understatement. I can see this one being stuck to her arse for a long time. ;D

Really makes me proud that between us we've turned a POS into a something that looks 100% better and it's brought us closer than ever, as she now shares my enthusiasm and passion for BMX. :4_17_5:
