Robinson Freestyler
« on: July 29, 2012, 03:12 PM »
I picked this ultra rare 85 Robinson freesyler while in Cologne ...  :smitten: its the only one I have seen . There is only this one and an 86 robbo freestyler on the museum ...
It has lots of GT parts , seat , tyres , seat clamp , stem, pegs  .. Six spoke skyways .
Robinson bars and seat post ...
Its rare to see a Robinson with these decals never mind on a freestyler ..  :)

Question is

leave it as it is  ???  ( the tyres are tatty , and do I put skyways on it )

Or do it my way  ???

Would deffo leave as is.  :daumenhoch: Quite like the little wear on the tires and i'm pretty sure they are OE skyways that are on it. Much more interesting than stock skyways  :4_17_5:
Sixteen thirty-two. What is that? A year?   No, it's your top score on Pole Position.

The chrome is mint so I won't be touching that or the decals .. Even though I was thinking of doing it baby blue to match my 86  >:D

That is lovely never seen one before.

If that is the original spec I would leave it exactly as it is as it's an original survivor and a piece of history :daumenhoch: otherwise it will just become another over restored bike with unneccasary high end expensive parts.

PS I love it exactly as it is :smitten:

Thanks for your input guys ..  :daumenhoch: I'm still unsure what to do with it ..  It would have been built by GT so all the part's are correct ..  All the part's are used and worn the same so i would say it's all original from bitd ...

As it is so rare i'll be leaving it as it is for now  :daumenhoch:  might just change the tyres as one has a rip ...  :daumenhoch:

Thats exactly why most builds these days look over done. As Ian says, it will just become another over restored bike with unnecessary high end expensive parts.

It looks proper nice in it's original glory. Change the tyres and have fun riding it bro  :daumenhoch:

I like that Carl, I am not a lover of freestyle bike as a norm as I find some of them a bit ugly with all the extra superflous tubing on them, but that is definitely not one like that, it looks like a race bike with 2 extra tubes, similar to the Curtis freestyler, I like that also.

Looking forward to seeing what you do with it.
