name these year 2000+ parts
« on: July 16, 2012, 04:41 PM »
bought tese parts as a package and need some help identifying them

first off the frame

no serial number on the dropouts or bb tube or anywhere else i can see, no headtube gusset, plated rear chainstay, seatstay mounts

after a little research im wondering if it could be a dirt bros industries frame?

next is the cranks

real beefy, 22mm 48 splined axle, big bolts axle is very much like a profile gdh axle, lhd and rhd compatible

maybe dirt bro industries stoker cranks??

forks

seem to be cheap looking, cable guide on the back of one leg, big dropouts not fully welded on the inside

and finally the bars

cross hatching looks neat, welds a little on the large side but look neat, any ideas??

Frames a dirt bros one for sure. Looks like a trailrpark. Can post pics of bits of mine later if it helps for comparison? (was watching that setup myself)

I think it's a D.B.I Trailrpark as well! Cranks could be FSA or Fishbone 'Bigass' I think They were called.

Cranks are definitely FSA cranks. They were generics that a lot of companies used but were most commonly found on brands owned by Dorel Industries (GT, Mongoose, etc).

Id support the idea that the frame is a DBI as well. They pretty unique with their dropouts and gusseting with not much else looking similar.

Looks to me like the Forks, bars and cranks all came off a high end "cheap" complete and were built onto the DBI.

bars could be slams, will compare them to my others when i get a chance

cranks arent dna, maybe early fsa but all the fsa cranks ive seen are engraved

still hoping they maybe dbi stroker cranks (page 15)

http://dirtbrosbmx.com/?page_id=2

have emailed the guy i bought it off asking if he remembers what make the cranks, bars and forks are

not too fussed if they are nothing special as it also came with a profile whippet chainring, tech99 dirty harry lever, snafu stem, fsa pig dh heasdset, primo seatclamp and unknown make chain tensioner

all for £23.77 :2funny: :2funny: :2funny:

Dont think those are DBI cranks. DBI's had different hardware, and Im pretty sure they were RHD only. Looking at your pics those appear to be RHD / LHD compatible? Hardware can be change though, and if the DBI cranks were LHD/RHD you may be in luck. At the time DBI were making a fair bit in Taiwan like sprockets and seats so I wouldn't be surprised if their cranks were FSA's in any case.

Kev,
Some pics for comparison.
Strangely tho, my dbi has a downtube gusset at the headtube...
And is the slot at the top of your seattube facing the front, as opposed to the back?

Hope these help,

Brian  :daumenhoch:

the frame  is deffo is a trailrpark then, as for the bars there deffo not slams as they are alot narrower than all my other slams (93 to 2000 slams) they maybe Hoffman bars but without being able to compare side by side ill never really know

my frame deffo has no gusset, can't really see urs in the pic, my seatpost does have the slot at the front

I only have the 1 chain tensioner, if I sell ill let u know  :daumenhoch:

cranks could be fsa wild childs, cant find any pics but descripp

Definatley  FSA cranks, as mentioned earlier FSA made these for many companies (I had some branded Diamnod Back)

They're not  Primo moustache Bars which were much rounded on the bottom. I reckon they're Terrible One bars, which had quite a lot of sweep and were available in small or large. 7" & 7.5" I think from memory.

Just to muddy the waters a bit more, I think the forks/bars are off a mid range complete like a DK or Mongoose  :LolLolLolLol:

The 2000 / 2001 Mongoose Importan (blue) and RAF (red) came with those cranks so perhaps see the other bits match as well. Just had a quick look on the museum and neither model are there so might take a bit of digging to find pics.
