What are the tyres of choice?
« on: July 15, 2012, 05:09 PM »
I'm looking to get a new pair of boots for my bike, used to running tanwalls, but like the look of new school whitewalls. So i run 2.125 up front and 2.0 at the rear, so whats the tyres of choice these days, will be used for street/ramp, I like a more agressive tread on the front incase of some dirt ;) :LolLolLolLol:

I'm usually the same mate, I have the Odyssey Aitken skinwall on the front which is a nice tyre, got the Dave on the rear but its bare and got chunks out of it in only 3 months use. I made a few quid on the bay clearing out my tat, so looking to spend upto £60 a pair.

See how i get on with these, they are nice and fast at 100 psi
Both are .1 larger  than my last pair, but the difference is minuscule.

Low tread on the rear, 2.1

Bit chunkier up front, 2.25

I've been running Tioga PowerBlock 2.1's for over a year now

light and sticky as fck for Wood, Concrete, Dirt and Grindless Street.

PoweerBlock 2.1 = 390g

Most tyres = Approx 630g

save a full pound on your spinning weight for 2 x £14.99. job's a good 'un.

Need a new set of tyres , are the powerblocks really up to concrete/ramp ? would think they would wear really quickly and with the thin sidewalls...

was looking @ chas/daves but thats 'cause i do follow the crowd  ;D

anyone comment on the maxxi grifters ?  110psi  1.85  375g/ 2.10 440g  and cheap as chips from chainreactions , could do with advice !

i wouldn't scrimp too much on the rubber choice, they're one of the main thing stopping you slipping and slamming hard.

I'd look at spending about £20 each, take your pick from any of the big brands (tried and tested) skin wall or black depending on what you think looks best  :daumenhoch:

had khe kevlar beaded, fit faf kevlar beaded, tan wall primo v monsters and now wire beaded fit fafs

khe's were good but too expensive really

fit fafs kevlar beaded were good too and cheaper than the khe's

primo v monsters were good as long as you dont go over 65psi as the sidewall begin to bulge

fit faf wire beaded are good, nice compromise between cost and weight and will prob buy them again :daumenhoch:

ah foook all of these i have tried most of the big names and they are just about the same..... pooop......dont notice much diffrence...........its all about the labels

I have beeen running these for a while but be warned they are fast..............If your running no brakes they may kill you   ;D

I also have them on my Mtb take 60psi no probs............and i can go on any terrain with them no problems
