buying an old school
« on: July 10, 2012, 05:57 PM »
If you were given a choice of buying 1 old school bmx from this short list which would it be

 Gen 1 Haro freestyler ,
 85 GT proformer ,
 skyway TA

i am thinking of getting 1 bike that i always wanted as a kid  but cant decide which (not that i have any money yet to buy one  :2funny:)
i have narrowed it down to these 3 so which would you buy given the choice??

I might actually build a bike this year instead of just hoarding parts :)

The TA and the Gen 1 ride shite bud. At least the GT has a 19" top tube.

Buy any off the list to look at, but if you're gonna ride it then you need to buy a Haro Sport over the Gen1 and if you really want a TA then you need the XL but you'd better have deeeeeeeeeepppppp pockets for either. Again the GT would be cheaper i'd argue.
Still limping......

out of those 3 I'd take the gen1, it was thinking about haros that started me off thinking about getting back into BMX

but my budget wouldn't stretch to one so I went for my 85 master instead

all of the above are very nice though, depends what you like mate

Thanks for the input guys
out of the 3 the only one i have ever riden was a TA a mate had one bitd. we were at rom and i had a go on it did an ariel out of the bowl and it scared the shit out of me ;D i was always used to heavy bikes and the TA was light as fook .
i had never even seen a gen 1 or Gt proformer in the flesh until volksworld this year but they are both iconic bikes that i used to dream of owning as a kid .
if there was 1 other bike i would add to this list it would be a looptail pk ripper..
i would like to have at least 1 quality bike in my small collection of cheapies  :)

my problem is i like them all  :2funny:

They are dead nice, Rideable, unlike the gen 1, and early, unlike the GT.
