Who can Move AD Lugs ????
« on: July 09, 2012, 04:53 PM »
'Ello Brothers

As usual with every S&M I've owned the AD lugs on My XLAF are too far down the chainstays.

Resulting in the rear wheel having to be nearly hanging off the end of the dropouts when using an AD style brake. (14.1" !!!)

Does anybody know of anybody who can remove my AD Lugs on my XLAF

And then re-weld them back on further up (towards the BB) the chainstay so I can slam the rearend. (13.65)

This bike is going to be ridden so needs to be done properly.

Cheers for your help, keep the Faith. L

Common problem on S&M's. You need a U brake with more room for the wheel. A Revenge Industries, or a Primo E brake should do the job, both are shorter in the brake adjustment slots & plenty of brake arm clearance to miss the tyre  :daumenhoch:

Goodness me, so the very people who make the bike with the problem also just so happen to make a massively overpriced solution?
I just love 'business'.

much easier to mod a brake than to mess with the frame.

Ive heard of a few people having problems but my fly brakes have always fitted fine.

I had to use a Primo E brake on My Blackbike as anything else just didn't come close to getting the blocks in line with the rim, and the wheel wouldn't go round as the arms were hard against the tyre.  The Revenge brake gave loads of clearance but wobbled about on the lugs too much for My liking.
On My Dirtbike I just about got away with an Evo2 with a 2" tyre.
