When did you get 'back' into OLD SCHOOL BMX ?
« on: July 06, 2012, 07:34 AM »
I reckon there are a few real OLD OLD school collectors on here, would be interested to know when;

You bought your first OS BMX
What was it / how much
How did you get back into Old School

I'll get the ball rolling;

Rediscovered OS BMX back end of 2004
Bought a US made Trickstar end 2004 (for £105)
mate of mine from BITD had just bought a Raceinc (for £35! complete), so I started looking around ebay.... discovered RAD a short while later - the rest is history  :)

I think around the early part of 04, ebay first, then discovered Rad  8)

The first F&F I brought was a Nos 86 Green Master from Stuntmaster for £180 I think, this was when you could get Nos 85 Masters everywhere for £200, I also brought off US eBay GT Profile crank arms for $15 Nos, but just the arms

i got back into it around 2001/3 i think  ???  always been into MTB's in a big way and wondered about having an old BMX........Typed Skyway into ebay and found a green (yes you guessed it) Street Beat frame, forks, bars and disgusting green braced layback post all for the price of about £70     i drove all the way up north to pick her up and i think it was off Dordy  ???

along the bottom of the auction were the dreaded words www.radbmx.co.uk  and the rest of my life was never the same!!  :LolLolLolLol:

2001 for me, bought a white haro master from Biagio, still in me loft now and the addiction started! Was part of the original "blue" radbmx site before it switched to here, prices were amazing back then...  :)

Hootski found his old Chromo Burner in our dad's shed and his bird at the time was a Voltswagon nut and asked him to build it up. I said how cool it was and wished I'd still got my BMX from BITD as we'd spent the years in between on MTB's and I still bunnyhopped everything......

So he scoured a couple of old bikeshops he knew and found unbelievably a boxed Ammaco 202 and built it up for my 30th birthday present. I was 43 this week and even though it's a POS I will never sell it as it's identical to the very first BMX I had in '82 and was again when I got back into BMX in '99.

Found eBay in 2003 and you lot in May 2007. Regretted every day since then you bunch of retards...... ;-)
Still limping......

Picked up a badly listed collection only complete Reflex loaded with really nice nos bits,  was on a job down south & it tied in nicely with pickin it up, cost nowt,  about 60 squid, prob 2007.

Found this place, bought a mint white quad F&F off Del & just swapped all these top parts off the Reflex. Voilą, dream bike from BITD.

Problem is I'm a serial hoarder who finds it hard to part wi stuff, so its become a bit of a storage issue!

Not currently doing any buying but I'll always be an Old Skool BMXer.

November 2011 ish when I took my step son up to Summer Hill, Hartlepool . Him on a Reebok BMX made of lead and me on a mountain bike I have had since 1997! We went up to do some bonding ! Lol. Met up with some old lads I used to ride with in the 80's ! Since then first built an SE Assasin got the lad a Delux Team 2 ! We go up the track about 2 times a week but more if Donna let's us ! Second build was a Freeagent Limo !
The lad (Conor) and I have both raced in the North reginals ! He has moved on to and Intence Pro, second hand , which I built up for him !
We both love building and riding BMX!
Just got a Hyper F/F 21.75 ish TT build in progress and an also putting together a bit of a mid/new school race bike. Going to double up at Hartlepool in September !
Thanks to Daz, Bren, Gish, Russ, Phil, and Paul etc for theier help and friendship .
This site rocks wether you ride or  collect or both !

Cheers Nick

Got an NOS Aero Reflex Christmas 2009 from Biaggio after getting my eldest Son his first BMX and was instantly hooked. I try to forget the memories of my crappy old Super Burner from BITD by buying only the high end and rare stuff now. :D I found this place and made some some quality mates in 2010, love doing the London rides and MK rocks. :daumenhoch:

After packing up racing for the second time in 1999, I still had the BMX itch. Kept up to date with the race results etc and had the odd ride out now and again. Had a little search on ebay one day and saw a few old BMX's I' wanted when I raced the first time round. Told my wife about it and she said you need a hobby, so why not get into OS BMX. That was it. Hooked. And with the wife's permission  :daumenhoch:

2010 found RAD, bought a TA and the rest is history.  :)

2004/5 when I was living in Los Angeles a few of the dudes turned up for beers near Venice Beach on OS Performers. Once the hard on had gone semi enough to walk, I was hooked like it was 1983.

Cheers, AL.

always been into bmx and always wanted another trickstar again after seeing one at playstation in london back in 1999 and started looking for one but no joy with hot wheels or shiner as some american`s  had bought the lot  ::) .
kept looking and then sourced a chrome trickstar complete bike from oregon usa fon usa ebay for about 300 postage and was worried as never bought anything that amount on ebay and let alone from outside uk .
got it and was well chuffed and got my own computer back in 2000 and joined vintage bmx and the rest is history .
back then there was only 5 pages of bmx on ebay

It was a Thursday a cool breeze was blowing from the south west, a blackbird was singing a sweet song sat on the Magnolia tree branch and the Mrs was cooking a pie for me, think it was steak and kidney :daumenhoch:

I typed in " Middle aged men into Monkey Porn and vertically challenged gay tartd's into kids bikes with nothing better to waste there money on" and found RAD  :smitten:

As you can see....I search the web to satisfy my special needs  8)

Lately I've been hitting the swinging sites more and more  :-\
I might actually build a bike this year instead of just hoarding parts :)
