Honest Cycles saying Hi!

Hello all, we are a recently formed company made up of two chaps who work full time in the engineering industry. In our spare time, we have designed and built some BMX frames, and are currently putting our 1st fully built bike through its paces. We have chosen to work with superior materials to create a strong, yet light frame which has been very well received. We have built our first frames with geometry that suits park riding, although we are currently researching race frames also.
Our vision is to get away from the current trend of cheap imported products, and are very proud to offer a 100% British made frame, using aerospace quality materials. Because we aren't a big company with huge overheads, we have been able to concentrate fully on quality of workmanship and high quality materials, whilst still being able to offer our products in the same price bracket as current imported frames.
These are early days for us, we haven't even set up a website yet, but we have a Facebook page which details our fabrication techniques, and some pics and info on our current projects. I will post some photos up soon, we have just developed our first "Old School" freestyler frame, which features the classic '80s style, but utilises our carbon steel alloy tubing and modern park bike geometry. We welcome any like minded bmx fans to join our Facebook page, just search for "Honest Cycles".
We look forward to keeping up to date with the Forum, and welcome the opportunity to answer any queries. Many thanks.

look forward to seeing the DTT frame built up - can you tell us any more about the material you're using? (esp compared with 4130)

The material we are using is T45, which is an alloy of steel, carbon and manganese. It is used primarily in the aero and Motorsport industries. It is the material used to make roll cages in top level motorsport, as it is exceedingly strong, much lighter than 4130 or CDS. It was used to built the chassis for Thrust SSC, which was the car that broke the sound barrier whilst claiming the land speed record. The tubing is made here in GB, unlike most cro moly which now comes from China (along with pretty much everything else) and we have found the quality of 4130 to vary wildly. We don't go anywhere near it, even though it's about 5 times cheaper than T45. We have researched and tested it for over a year, and we won't build a frame from anything else!

Well, we haven't copied it that's for sure! What we have done is to create a modern frame with up to date geometry, whilst adding some hints to the old school design. It was made as a tribute to Dave Park, and we like to think he would have been proud to see two British engineers recognise his vision, but at the same time embellish the new bike with modern touches. It will run with micro gearing, much modified frame dynamics and carefully selected cycle parts. It's a new frame entirely, and brings together aerospace quality materials, craftsmanship and old school style.
