I had some unstamped laserbars on my 83 Nova. I'm lead to believe they were unstamped to save cost with the Nova being the low end model.

Not sure how true that is.

I am on the same understanding, that the stamping was left for the higher end of the market. I am led to believe that the stamping of the bars and seat post started around late 83/early 84. Just need the year confirmation if anybody does know please
