S&M Dirtbike Project
« on: May 24, 2012, 06:33 AM »
This is my Dirtbike project. Massive thanks to the S&M crew on ozbmx for if it weren't for them I wouldn't have this...
There will be some parts changes along the way. I'll update as I go along.

Here's a pic of the Dirtbike all slapped together temporarily. The wheels that are currently on it are 3/8 Profile mini cassette hubs laced to Sun Rhyno Lite rims (Front radial laced) but I have another set of wheels coming. Will update pics as parts arrive in the mail.

Wheels are Sun Ringle sealed bearing hubs laced to Sun Rhyno Lite rims. Cranks are 180mm Powerlite stamped Profiles with Profile spider and Tuf Neck chainring.

That looks great!  :smitten:  Still miss my old orange one.

Anyone on here get the baby blue one which was listed on ebay over the weekend and then withdrawn?  Drop dead gorgeous colour but waaay to expensive for me.

I've got a polished PMC seat clamp coming along with a PMC chainwheel....They should look real nice on the Dirtbike.
I'm also in the process of polishing up a set of sealed bearing flip flop GT Mohawk hubs and Sun Rhyno Lite rims. The hubs are NOS but the faded red ano made them look pink so I stripped them and in the process of polishing them. The rims were black but the ano was a little patchy so they have been stripped and awaiting polishing too. I have 184mm stainless spokes and a 16t White Industries ENO freewheel. They will be an excellent set of wheels once I've finished building them.

Built the wheels today....I'll true them tomorrow then put them on the Dirtbike. The Sun Rhyno Lite rims were black but I stripped them and polished then then put fresh Rhyno Lite stickers on them. I'll add some pics when they are on the bike.

As promised here are the pics of the Dirtbike with the new wheels on it...
The Sun Rhyno Lite rims were black anodised but I stripped them and polished them and put a new set of Sun Rhyno Lite stickers on them.
The hubs are sealed bearing flip flop GT Mohawk, They were NOS and were a weird red/purple colour anodising so I stripped then and polished them.
The spokes are DT stainless steel with brass nipples.

what chainring is that  ???

It's a Profile spider with a Tuf Neck (Tiger Stamp) 43t chainring and Suntour chainring bolts. In a couple of days it's being replaced with a PMC chainwheel.
