The very early ones around 1978/79 had a double headtube gusset with a large hole similar to mongoose... think they were made by "Pedalpower" or something like that, can't quite remember  :idiot2:

Buy it, early Powerlites are cool. I had a mid 80s one in 91, but snapped the rear end fannying about on a mini half pipe. ::)

After Shenpar in Melbourne, Derbyshire stopped importing JMC's they started importing Powerlite's so the race team moved over too, Dale and Rachel Holmes, Nicky Parkinson (son of Shenpar owner, Bob) and Darren Reidy i think. I raced against Dale aot in cruisers in 86

and Rachel too!

As a little pooper i had those powerlite bars. You know the ones with the bent bar ends.

What a disaster! Bike was totally twitchy, changed back to proper GT bars within 2 weeks.

That was my Powerlite story.  ;D

Bizzy-ump from the dead  :LolLolLolLol:

Not normally my cup of tea, but picked up a Feb '92 Powerlite Pro XL the other day in order to cheer meself up for not going to MK. Gorrit for the forks/stem/bars really, but here's a nice 'not mass produced, well nearly mass produced cack' GT made Powerlite, 21" TT prior to Powerlite becoming well bobba in 1995:

Welds are real nice  (despite the powder making em look cack). Best part of the bike though were these:
