Advice for Newbie
« on: May 04, 2012, 10:59 AM »
Hello, 1st post so go easy on me. Im late 30's so I've been reliving my youth buying things I couldn't afford back in the day. Started off with cars (escort cosworth etc) and now I've remembered how much I was into BMX's as a kid in the 80's. So I've been looking for a couple of months on ebay at Skyway ta's and Haro Freestylers.

There seems a lot of variation on them (pedals, seats, wheels and colours etc). And they aint cheap! So I need some advice before splashing the cash and possibly making a mistake! Are there any makes/models/colour schemes to avoid? I like a lot of white on them, think they look cooler, but then Im 38 so what do I know about cool  ::)

And I've got to be honest, it wont get ridden much it will be an ornament to look at. Any help/advice would be great, also any good bikes for sale let me know  :daumenhoch:

Your best bet for a fuller flavour would be to buy through somewhere like here. With ebays prices and charges etc people will always add that little extra (that's without friends bidding etc to increase price!)
I have an '84 TA in white in the for sale bit here, it's also on ebay but any dib dobs from here and it's taken off the bay.  :daumenhoch:

This really is your onestopshop for all your honest bmx sales, nowhere else will offer you the reliability of buying from trusted members on here, and the after sales support is massive !!!!

Ebay is full of scammers that sell bikes that thwey dont even own, gumtree is full of messers

Decide what you want and put a wanted add up and see the bikes walk through your door

I have been on here about a month and in that time I have sold a brand new Skyway Streetbeat bought from eBay, bought a bargain GT performer from a guy on here and a GT Pro Performer from a guy in the US as well as loads of bits and bobs! That is month one!!

Add to that washing a full jar of Nitromors down the sink and sniffing fumes galore..... its one hell of a ride!

I too dreamt of owning a decent bike and am also 38 (just). I knew I wanted a Fiola GT or a Skyway TA.... the one for sale metioned below would have been bought if I had seen it before I started!

Its bloody addictive being on here! I have met some amazing people who will save you time and money. Advice is always spot on! They all work together, the repairers, the powder coaters.....its a well oiled machine!

My only regret - not being on here sooner!

The only other place I look is the BMX Museum, although its US based so they have a very different sense of humour!

PS............. Be careful with Avatar choice, grown men with their **** stuck up an exhaust pipe is classed as offensive!!

Mine does! Don't use gasket cleaner and nitromors where you prepare food!
