NS Front brake
« on: April 21, 2012, 04:56 PM »
Is anyone running a decent New School caliper type front brake?  My forks don't have U brake mounts and I really miss a front brake but all I can find other than OS stuff is some crappy tektro effort.  Does anyone do a good one?

Cheers  :daumenhoch:

Boa's are good if you can find one with a thin spindle

Or just buy some lugged forks and a u brake  :daumenhoch:

Sweet, may have found a use for it yet!

Come to think, I've got an ACS 860 somewhere too if that fits

the boa is probably the best caliper brake you can get, i used the same one for about the last 15 years up until about 6 months ago when i finally bought some lugged forks. i've got a rob ridge one that he put a 10mm axle in with sealed bearings.

Those Reaction Megabrake Boa's worked really well, if You didn't mind the huge bolt sticking out the back of the steerer tube!

Yup. Had one of the 10mm ones for ages before brake plates came to be.

I'm surprised there aren't more kicking about, you never seem to hear of anyone with one these days. Rob must have done a good number of them eh?

Best off with a 990 type brake but if you want a Boa-pains me to mention these idiots...dunno what the spindle size is.

Don't bother with the 6mm Boa for riding though, the spindle will snap & all those tiny bearings fly off everywhere!
