Mention that they just sprayed the exact same bike, and that I told you about them. I did strip the paint off though, they send their stuff away to be blasted so that would take longer.

Speak to John or Malcom.

Groove are going to lace my Araya's this week if the spokes turn up from Winstaley's.

Cheers Robbo. The only thing that puts me off slightly is that the inside of the dropout will still get ripped up.

Think I may just go ahead and order some.

why not add a nylon washer to the inside then

Can I do that to the outside, or will I not be able to tighten it enough?

I dont think it would tighten enough if you had nylon on both sides, although I have no experience of ever using nylon washers as I dont care about my dropouts, just thought it may work in your situ as you've got the helix dropouts to tighten too, although i have seen a ripper with paint damage from those savers, as I think they are more for saving the metal as opposed to saving the paint

What he said. Any dropout saver is intended to save the dropout structure from damage, not the paint. Your paint will get damaged even with those savers on there (probably even more so as they are far bigger then a regular washer. The only way to stop paint damage is nylon washers, and if you intend to ride the bike then those are not an option.

Well the dropouts are quite skinny at the very end, but the nut won't be there, I'll keep it as far in as possible. Since I'm going to damage the paint anyway, I may aswell save the £20 and not bother with them.

Cheers!

This build is back on again! The painters had to redo the frame, the previous effort was no good, it looked good but the paint crushed and flaked as I was tightening bits onto it!
This time they sand blasted it, and I told them to put the base on with white powder rather than spray it. It seems a lot tougher, bit thicker though.

Will start building it within the next few days and update with pics.
