I have got a problem removing a stem that is stuck in to the forks.
It is an anodised red SR stem, the forks are ASCO and it is a TA frame.
I have tried WD40 and wiggling the handlebars left and right. Nothing gives.
Removed the bars and top plate, covered stem with towel and applied a few liberal whacks with a hammer and large adjustable spanner. Towel ripped a bit and a couple of dings in the stem, but it is still in there solid.
Loosened headset to try both of the above again, no joy.

The bike is in decent nick and everything else is ok, there is no sign of rust at all.
Anyone have any suggestions please as all I can think of is applying more brute force
