REDLINE CRANK FITMENT - HELP PLEASE!
« on: April 03, 2012, 10:42 PM »
Hello knowledgeable people
Ive bought a redline crank set for my '80 PK Ripper but the US bottom bracket spacer is too long to fit inside myBB with the bearings fitted. :(
The spacer is 52.6mm that came with the BB set. This seems too long to fit
Is this the right one? Should I cut it down? Should I try and buy the correct length spacer?
Has anyone had this issue before?
Any help appreciated chaps
Cheers,
Griff

Buy the right size, You will never get the cut 100% straight

Grind it down gently, better than a hack saw
A long time ago, in a land far away!

Good advice Gary!!
I carefully measured and cut it down, now its too freaking short by about 1mm :-X

Is the tube supposed to be a tight fit between the bearings to stop them imploding when you tighten the crank arm end bolts??
If not its ok, but if so then I need a new one :'(
Please help

You should get away with 1mm, thats only 0.5mm each end and the bearings will push to that,
