Room to stand ?
« on: March 22, 2012, 01:18 AM »
was just thinking on pad sets

race bikes have pad sets
early bmx's have pad sets

what about Freestyle bmx's - i mean would a pad set get in the way of frame stands and stuff

so did any bmx's made for freestyle come with a pad set ?

what year was the freestyle era start ?

cheers B  ;)

The Ammaco Freestyle came with pads too. I suppose a bar pad cushions your bum for riding backwards!

Pad sets came on haro's too, if the frame is like the GT posted by nick then I wouldn't say it got in the way :)

RL20 had its own pad set, though the first frame whip I did I ended up standing on the frame pad & got it dusty  :-[

I don't like pads on bikes really, I think they cover the beauty of the frame and components.

I strangely find myself agreeing with Ad on this one - not a fan of pads either
that TRM pad is a prime example (sorry dave), if I had one of those BITD that would have gone into the bin before I even had chance to fetch the reflectors off it
I do accept that they are functional though, as my old classmate darren wilson would testify after doing a big 'ET' style jump off a bank, only to land badly with his balls squarely on his unprotected stem

Also quite often prefer bikes with the decals off - obviously exceptions but a lot of really nice bikes have been ruined with shite graphics

For wot it's worth, I like to see a padset.  Nice finishing touch if it had em BITD.   :daumenhoch:

As I'm on one..... I also think a race bike looks unfinished without pads & a numberplate.  :yahoo_silent:

The Skyway at Volksworld 2012 is how it should be done.  ;)  I would say that though, its mine.
