Haro shredder 1994 i think...
« on: March 18, 2012, 04:15 PM »
Hello.
This is the bike ive been cleaning up for my mates 8 year old son to ride..
Much better than all the modern stuff.
Just need a seat and new chain and he's off.

Araya chrome rims and Haro sealed hubs also.
Nice bike in my opinion. ;)

looks good  :daumenhoch:

could be a deluxe model

looks to be later than 94 though, more like 97 according to bmx museum, none of the pre 97's have a clamp on stem, then the 97 shredders have a clamp on stem just before the frame changed slightly around the seatpost area

1997 1in stem

1997 1&1/8th stem

1997 revised shredder

To be honest I wouldn't rate this anywhere near todays rides. Even though they may all look the same some of the frames are pure works of art. And that is coming from someone that collects a few haro's.  Your ride came about when all that was good about Haro had long gone to make there own bikes at Hoffman and standard. The top 3 bike companies at the time your bike was built were s&m standard and Hoffman. Haro were just living off there well known name, churning out run of the mill stuff like this. The foreign buyers of the company didn't have a clue what they were doing. They only really picked up again once they had smelt the coffee and started to sponsor riders like mirra and Nyquist. The trouble is by that time most of the damage was done and Haro are not as strong a brand as they were. A shame really as the riders that left including mirra went on to head some great bike companies making bikes for the rider of today with amazing technology. Ok they might all look the same. Which is a bug bear of mine. But I can't argue with the standard of the technology and materials used today. It is quite amazing. Now company's have seen a small market for us retro guys and are starting to bring out retro products and custom frames so we have the new tech with a throw back to the old style. Looking old with new geometry. And lastly running super smooth. I think it can only get better for us. And we are starting to see a rise of interest in new school on this site. That's not to say we don't want to forget our roots.  All our stuff will be kept for a ride about or a show. But it's nice to be able to go and jump around without fear of fooking up your rare os ride.  Don't knock the new school until you have tried it. But make sure when you do it has brakes and the seat at the decent height as they look crap slammed and we all like to stop!!  :daumenhoch:

You haven't offended anyone mate. Everyone has an opinion. And I'm sure someone will pop up here and agree with you.

What's important is we all get out and ride whether it's on old school, mid school or new school. As we are a community.   :daumenhoch:
