Fork ID please
« on: June 18, 2006, 05:28 PM »
These came fitted to an '81 Supergoose frame that I just got from the States, but they are obviously not Mongoose forks. Can anyone identify what they are ? (I already figured out that they are grey and rusty thanks  ;)) It's possible that they were originally un-drilled, as the brake hole is slightly off centre and looks like it may have been added.

Thanks

Guy  :daumenhoch:

-decals may be origano
-these are mini versions of yours
-whack some bottomeo stickers on them

-oh, and they are undrilled - nice welding eh?

I thought they did look a bit like Botema's, and yeah - the welding is sweet  8)

I am pretty sure they are not Bottema as the drop outs on Bottema's never came down to the bottom of the fork like yours and always finished quite a bit short

Redline also did that style of fork (basically a smaller, copied design of the Bottema)

I wasn't saying they are Botema's, I was just saying they are similar  ;)

I'm guessing early Redline MXII or proline forks. Exactly what I'm lookin for in fact. Bit too far away from me though.

Yep deffo look like late 70s Redline forks to me ;)
The pink cyclecraft ones pictured have sharper edges on the dropouts.

Redline (Linn Kastan) invented the BMX fork in 1974, they did not copy the Bottema fork design.

Guy, I would say those forks are mid to late 70s nickel Redline forks that have been drilled, quite a rare find in the UK.

If you are interested in selling them give me a shout :daumenhoch:

Bren :)
