early ripper advise needed!
« on: March 16, 2012, 08:57 PM »
Hey peeps.

built my ripper, and noticed i have to have my rear wheel all the way forward (front of the bike) to get my blocks to reach the rim!

Even with the caliper all the way down.

Using mx1000, unless its a snide, looks the same.  :2funny:

Any idea's

mucho love.  :daumenhoch:

you will need a dc or weinmann 1020-1080 they have a longer reach than the mx 1000's
British race frames and race clothing wanted

cheers phil  :daumenhoch:

Is this a normal prob, as seen loads of rippers with 1000's on and the wheel seems to be further back than mine.  :-\

Also got the self centering adjuster on, does this make a difference?

mx1000's just about reach if you set them up properly, early SE racing adverts showed the caliper underneath the brake bridge, but it looks a bit naff on a show bike....

the self centering thingy wil give the brakes a shorter reach waza as its pushing the brake further out
at a right angle down to the rim which is sloping away if that makes sense.

The wheel right forward makes the bike easier for manualing  :daumenhoch:
