How I decided to stop lurking and other stories...
« on: March 20, 2012, 07:57 AM »
Just thought I'd better make my first post on here. I registered last year some time, having got my first ever old school BMX ...wait for it ...a Mk 1 Raleigh Extra Burner for my 40th. Like other poor deluded Burner owners I do not keep it in a skip,  :P I genuinely love it and I've been enjoying sourcing a few replacement parts for it over the year.

The bit you guys will approve of  ;) is it has re-ignited my childhood dreams of owning the bikes I used to drool over in BMX Action, and watching BMX Beat in the school holidays.

I've been on Burnerworld and rb.com since for about a year now, so know quite a few of the usernames that pop up on all three sites. I am a soft southerner, grew up in Eastbourne, now live in Southampton. I can only do a small bunny hop, and jump off a kerb. The only bowl I drop into is my Shreddies with hot milk in the morning.

I've also now got an Anniversary Team Aero Pro, currently upgrading it with old school parts where possible.

Now I am very tempted to get another old school BMX. I think my favourite iconic bike back in the day was a Kuwahara E.T. but I now prefer the actual KZ-1 or KZ-2 models rather than the E.T. decalled ones. frustratingly my dreams seem to stay hypothetical due to justifying a spend that big but you never know...

Oh well that's enough waffle, hopefully gives you an impression of me. See you on the boards!

Welcome to the money absorber!

That is a very cordial introduction mate!

Why dont you try a Hot Heart...? A little cheaper than the KZ but no less appealing...!

Cheers mothwasp,

Yes the Hot Heart is definitely on my short list of possibilities, along with the looptail 1/2 chrome moly "KYZ". Like you say they are sometimes a little cheaper...

Welcome aboard Keith.

I had a KYZ and converted it into an Elliot replica about 5 years ago. Lovely bikes to ride mate. the laserlites are awesome machines and Kuwaharos are very underrated IMO.
