Torker 6 Bolt Stem - Finished (with money shots)
« on: March 19, 2012, 07:08 PM »
Hi all - just finished a stem colour change.  Cant say it was a restoration as it was mint/never ridden but wrong colour.  It now has a completely mint anodised finish.

From this:

to this (using a 5 min soak in Oven Pride + zero effort):

to this:

Using this paint: Plasti kote Super Spray Satin Black (3 very thin coats with no undercoat)
http://www.diy.com/nav/decor/paint/specialist-paints/spray_paints/Plasti-kote-Super-Spray-Satin-Black-400ml-9254007

I did not fill the ODYSSEY engrave so time will tell if the decal stars to show what lies beneath.  Personally, I dont think it will as the engraving is so shallow.

All I have to do now is wait 9 months until everyone forgets it was once a ODYSSEY stem then, sell it back in here as a TORKER for a ton+   ;)

btw, can anyone point out the difference between this stem and a real TORKER?  They even both weigh the same (440g)

Nice work Paul, looks great. Torker stems have black quill's buddy but to be honest, most Odyssey stems have a longer reach from the stem bolt to the top cap where as this one is quite short  :daumenhoch:

If you keep the stem flat to the headset, the only way someone would know it's not genuine is the cap bolts  :coolsmiley:

Thanks, all..

Forgot to ask: Im considering spraying the 6 bolts the same yellow as the decal, kinda like the below illistration I knocked up.  What do you think?  A bit too boy-racer??

I cant believe I was never asked to work on the Tron movie!!
