Raleigh Mini Styler Headset
« on: March 14, 2012, 10:43 AM »
I have just bought a Mini Styler for my daughter and the "headset" is really worn.
I use the term "Headset" loosely because it seems to be a hard nylon or metal bush that is pressed into the headtube that the forks turn in
I know it is not a "performance" bike, but riding it with so much play in the "headset" will tear the tube

So what are my options? Does anyone make a replacement unit? Or should I fire up the lathe??

Aren't they just 1" headsets on these like normal sized Burners? ???

They're just cheap and easy to replace. Can't you just strip down and clean the existing one, maybe the crown race (bit that slides over the forks) needs tapping into postion again.??

Pics would help mate. :daumenhoch:

Oh right, i'm out of suggestions, the smaller they are, the more complicated they must be. ::)

Yeah, they are like Madrok says - they are cheap & chearful assembly, and it is just a round block with a hole in - no bearings or anything

Annoyingly the bearing cup from a standard headset is the same size as the head-tube so it won't fit. :(

They still use this method on the kiddies bikes today, might be worth a little nip to the LBS to see if they have any spares that may fit?  :)
