I think i saw someone mention ebay and what people charge for postage the other day.

£6.50 to post a fooking Sugino chainring! they weigh fook all! must cost all of about £1 to send recorded FFS!

I always post my stuff in padded envelopes which cost another £2-3, so sometimes the postage cost can work out a little more than expected.

i hear what you're saying Chris but over £6 to send a chainring? i wouldn't expect to pay anymore than that for a set of forks.

as for padded envelopes, i have loads of old ones knocking about that i recycle.....so no expense at all there.

No i keep all the ones that i get from the shyte i buy. Unless the stuff is from Chainreaction as they put headset spacers in suitcases now

get my padded envolopes outta aldi 1,99 for 4 medium to large

bargain

just sent a sprocket today for £1,09 first class

I keep all my padded envelopes etc and use em again

I have loadsa record mailers, 7" single ones are great for chainrings

6 quid postage is taking the p$ss,making money on postage is one way of getting ebay fees back,but 6 quid for a chainring

it is a lot, of course you could always just not bid on it or bid a low amount taking the high P&P into account?

my mrs sells bits n bobs on ebay now and again, often charges less postage than cost and still some people mark it down or moan that it's too much AFTER winning the auction (because she no longer posts stuff unless recorded after some shady characters say things hadn't turned up)

when i send a skyway chainring via 1st class recorded the minimun it can be is £2.73 excluding packaging charges (based on over 100g under 100g is £2.48).

ever since royal mail introduced the new scheme if it dont go through the little letter slot they have its classed as a packet.
have to admit though over £6 is a joke

we send around 500 parcels and packets a month i have started using
www.stormtrading.co.uk they are very cheap for bubble wrap and bags etc. the grey mailing backs they have are really strong we use them for kitchen handles etc.
everything on the site is post free and the bubble wrap is well cheap
