Well,

I've sprayed the brakes and I'm REALLY pleased with the results!  :smitten:

Unfortunately, the computer's on its way out and now doesn't recognise the USB ports so I can't upload the pics, so will have to wait till Monday to do it at work!  :tickedoff:

This paint is the nuts but you have to be careful with it as it has a hair trigger and it's easy to spray too much on.

I'm going to give it a few days to harden, then lacquer it and fingers crossed, it'll be ready to go!  :daumenhoch:

If anyone's interested, here's the link to the paint.....

You might find when you laquer it it goes dull.  :daumenhoch:
I would paint something else that is scrap and laquer that first as a precaution.

Right;

I'm at work so i can upload the pics now!  ;D

It was hard to make it look good on the pics with my camera phone but it looks really good now. I may have got carried away and done too many coats which has made it look a lot deeper red but I like the look better now.  :daumenhoch:

I was pleased with how the first coat went on. It comes out of the can really fast but gives good coverage and doesn't run easily which is the nightmare of any sprayer!  :LolLolLolLol:

I was a bit worried that it'd stick to the paper but it turned out fine and doesn't look too far off anodising.

I then did the backs which proved more of a pain as some of the parts stuck to the paper!  :tickedoff: (new I should've hung the parts up to spray!)

When the paint is properly hardened I'll coat the parts with something to protect them making sure they don't dull as has already been mentioned, then do the front/rear split!

While I was waiting for paint to dry, I decided to have a bash at the chain. First thing I did was to launch my chain tool across the room and into the bin with one, well aimed throw and go and buy a good one!  :LolLolLolLol:
If I'd used my old tool, the chain would've been knackered and with no paint left on it! I'm pleased with it but no matter what people say; I'm not changing it again!  :LolLolLolLol:

Thats' it for now. Apart from fitting the red brake parts I'm just waiting for my seat to eventually arrive from the bay and the seat clamps are on their way to Sawzall for their 50/50 split and Firebird Steve's working on the pads and she's done!  :daumenhoch:

Fair enough; each to their own.

It was never going to please everyone!  :LolLolLolLol:

.....but you can't really take a multi-coloured, freestyle built, Falcon Pro Aero Flyer seriously, can you?  :2funny:

Quick update and a WARNING!

I went to lacquer the brakes with a can of Halfords clear lacquer I had and took discostu's advice to try it on something else first to see if it dulled the finish.  :daumenhoch:

Good job I did as the lacquer acted as a rather effective paint stripper!

So I've now taken VHT's advice and bought a can of their clear gloss enamel which should be alright!

Here's the link and as always, I'll let you know the results when I get it.  ;)

Well, the weekends over and here's another update!  ;D

I got my can of VHT Gloss Enamel through really quickly which was a bonus as I could crack on straight away with that and have everything dry, ready to be fitted by the end of the weekend. This stuff is great and doesn't dull the finish in the slightest but is a lot trickier to use than the anodising paint as you only need the lightest of coats and the stuff flies out of the nozzle at a milion miles per hour! ;D

I learnt my lesson this time and hung everything up before spraying! These have been sprayed in the pics and look even brighter when they've dried.  :daumenhoch:

All dryed ready to fit.......

Got a nice new decal off Del to finish the bars off!  :daumenhoch:

Was pleased with how the levers and the calipers looked with the calipers being a good match in particular to the anodising.

Spent ages cutting the first brake cable to the right lengths and fitting nice and neatly, then realised I fitted the back brake to the front brake lever and couldn't switch the cable to the other lever as they're colour co-ordinated!  :tickedoff:

Sorted it all out after much time and swearing and dialed the brakes in and it's all ready go!  :daumenhoch:

I've left the cables a bit long as I want to see how much room I'll have when I fit my crossbar pad, then I'll shorten them accordingly.

The only pain is the stem is so long the hole for the rotor doesn't match up and it puts the cable at a really bad angle. I put a bit of outer cable in the bottom of the hole in the stem to protect it a bit from rubbing but ideally I'd like an ACS stem to make it work properly. Any offers at a reasonable price?  ;)

Now it's practically done. All I'm waiting for is my seat to EVENTUALLY arrive from eBay  :tickedoff:, my pads from Firebird Steve and my split seat clamp from Sawzall!  :daumenhoch:

Nice build, always good to see something different  :daumenhoch:

Have you thought about putting a red tyre on the blue rim and visa versa?
Sixteen thirty-two. What is that? A year?   No, it's your top score on Pole Position.

Thanks for the comments; glad you like it!  :daumenhoch:

I've thought about colour matching the tyres but that would be the third set of tyres I've bought for it and I haven't even ridden it yet!  :LolLolLolLol:

I'll probably keep it like this for now just to save some money but you never know; I might get a pair on standby!  ;D :daumenhoch:

Got my seat through from eBay, at last! It's only taken a month to travel 150 miles!!  :tickedoff:

It's a fake Kashi in used condition but suits the survivor condtion of the frame, forks and bars well and came at the right price.

The guts were immaculate but the rails were a little rusty so I gave them a quick blast with the coke and foil, then polished them and they came up lovely!  :daumenhoch:

The back and the top were scatched up. The top was going to prove too hard to rub down without ruining the texture of the seat so I polished it with Back To Black bumper spray and rubbed down the back smooth with 9 grades of wet and dry.

One last finishing touch was a Kashimax sticker on the back. I know it doesn't fit right but it looks a lot better than leaving it blank!  ;D

I've managed to buy a stem like this one on my Badlander in used condition which will suit the bike perfectly and will fit the Rotor much better than the stem it has at the moment...

So that's nearly it! Seatclamp's nearly done, then it's renovate and fit new stem and fit new pads when they're ready! Phew, it'll be finished one day!!  :LolLolLolLol:

Had to get Dan to powder the hub flanges as the alloy was so porous, when I had them rechromed they came out pitted, even after four dips, so I didn't have much option.

That's what started off the red and blue theme as I thought I'd do the wheels red, white and blue in a kind of patriotic way!  ;)

From there, I'm afraid, it just escalated! Just like Pringles; once you pop, you just can't stop!  :LolLolLolLol:
