NOS Cruiser Build Help!!
« on: June 14, 2006, 11:44 AM »
Guys,

Thinking about building a old school cruiser but don't have a clue as to what?

Never had one when I was younger but quite fancy it now.

Any ideas or pointers for F&F??

Thanks
Stace

hi stace,

I built a CW Racing Pro Motion cruiser earlier this year and love it. Check the museum for pics.

As far as what F+F to get, there are so many different ones out there it's personal taste really.
I would love any of the following as my next project:

SE Racing Floval Flyer (looptail)
Early 80's GT
Hutch XL24
Redline PL24
Mongoose Pro Class

I guess it's best to look at what other people have done on here and maybe VintageBMX and see what catches your eye.

Good luck,
greg

Old school cruisers are soooooooo cool! but beware!! if you are building a truely OS cruiser items such as bars, tyres,
rimsand inverted stems from back in the day are hard to find and do not often dont come cheaply!

This shouldnt put you off though because as with any build the satisfaction of getting it finished is just the best part!

There is a Hutch XL24 on here for sale, the guy sent me some piccys earlier today and its real sweet, but wont be cheap
and doesnt really need anything doing to it! Nice though.

Good luck

Or you could choose a 26" cruiser if you prefer a bigger bike.
SE OM Flyer and the Mongoose Kos are two very desirable oldschool models.

Has to be oldschool? There are many great new cruiser F&Fs being made right now- Supercross, Firemans, SyCip, Cook Bros, Kappa etc.
There's even 29" models (the new SE's) but I'm probably drifting from your original question to my own wishes here  :)
