« on: February 10, 2012, 06:17 PM »
Anyone got any info one these? Who designed them? Did they come as a complete bike? How much did they cost new? Has anyone got any sticker scans or brochure pictures?

Thanks :daumenhoch:

Flatland legend Kevin Jones designed the Big Daddy frame.

Alright Lucas... do you mean a 'Sugar Baby' ... don't think there was a Sugar Daddy  ;)

Ash's one used to be mine ... he wanted to redo it as a white Big Daddy ... it was in a pretty good condition before that.

I've got a full page advert from Hoffman from a 96 Ride mag I can scan for ya.

The parts on it when I had it were pretty mush stock apart from the tyres, seat post, seat  :daumenhoch:

my hoffman sd 4 done up as a neil ruffell retro style.. the big daddy was kevin jones creation. the sugar baby was a later lower end complete bike with cro mo downtube and seatube i think so not full cr mo but same geometry.

the sd 4 was after kevin had left hoffman bikes and they built completes in full cr mo with the same geometry just changed some of the tubing sizes etc. no headtube gussett, ad lugs front and rear, oval top and downtubes.

Mine has ad lugs, oval tob and bottom tubes, I don't know whether do it with ez bars, blue skyways, get it respayed white, white tanwalls with pivotal etc, or restore it? Or a mix of both? With the original decals and mid school bars?

Sugar Baby was full Cro-mo... exactly the same as the Big Daddy but a different name so Kevin Jones 'stopped getting paid' ( quote! )
