I know you get Red, Blue, Gold, brake levers and calipers from such like company's as Dia Compe and Shimano

black and silver are a obvious choice

but how come they never really used Purple or Green ?

now i might be wrong and this thread fooked from the start  ;D

so was it harder to anno in purple and green ?

was it not seen as cool ?

know i also know towards the late 80's and the 90's you did see purple and green especially on the cheap chiwanese bikes, but not on the early 80's

so this is where some one is going to put up a pic of items from the early to mid 80's of green and purple  ;D

discuss please  ;)

cheers B  :D

If I remember correct......the three colours had something to do with dye's that were available to anodizes BITD and also that red, blue, black and gold were the dye's that worked the best.

Also I think there are specific colours for specific industries and parts…..like blue nuts for aerospace industry or gold c0ck rings for the porn industry  :bondage:

With the increased popularity of anodizing the chemical manufactures naturally invested more resources into developing more colours to have the "one up man ship" over their competitors

Also anodising different grades of alloys (inc Ti) can take the dye's better than others.

As I said its many years since I did all that type of stuff.......and I've taken fair few hits to the head and consumed a fair bit of beer  :daumenhoch:
I might actually build a bike this year instead of just hoarding parts :)
