I build to ride and build to budget, build bike with whatever i have hanging around then slowly replace parts as they come up at bargain prices, my freestyler is a prime example of me building as i would bitd, its started off proper budget with cheap cranks, chainring, fake brakes, fake cables, headset, grips, pedals and bit by bit i've replaced all the bits and now have a pretty good non era correct bike, as I wouldve bitd!!

No rules in my book . everything goes just like bitd  Most of our bikes were miss mashed colours etc bitd anyway , left over burner stuff etc .

it's intresting when you start to dig into what members see is a resto build / a build that they wanted back in the day / parts of what is left around to make some thing to ride / replacing cerial stickers and spoke badges / parts that they had on a certain ride that they loved / colour choice / or original resto back to shop bought

each one of these makes up a story ~ apart of the bmx history, and how it made us feel when we rode back in the day ~ right back to what and how we choose parts for builds today

@Bendy,yep had a couple of photos and a good memory,it was a weird feeling sitting on it for the first time after i built it

strange as i remember putting different decals/stickers on my rides but can't remember which one's

must of been weird standing over it and seeing it like you remember but being a lot bigger now

I'd say anything goes on a build ,, got to admit I'm a bit of a stickler  for era correct though , ( but its your bike do what you want)
but custom or bikes as you had em are well cool.  
because they are what we really rode round on with our own personal twists

The thing is it's the owner the appreciates it the most (sentimental value) as they can be often be quite a mish mash and wacky colour combos
